Overview

Pocket Kindness ("the App") helps children build habits of kindness through daily missions. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles data.

How Data Is Stored

What Data Does the App Collect?

The App stores the following information only on your device:

• Child's name: Entered by parent during setup
• Completed missions: Which missions the child has finished
• Journal entries: Child's descriptions of what happened and who they helped
• Coins earned: 10 coins per completed mission
• Reward history: Coins spent and rewards redeemed
• Streaks: Consecutive days of completed missions
• Badges: Achievements unlocked
• Parent PIN: Hashed and stored locally for reward approvals

Where Is Data Stored?

The App uses Apple's secure local storage to protect data. The data:

• Is stored only on your iOS device
• Is protected by Apple's device-level encryption
• Is never transmitted to external servers
• Is not automatically backed up to iCloud or any cloud service
• Is only accessible within the Pocket Kindness app

⚠️ Data Loss Risk

Because data is stored only on your device and not backed up to the cloud, if you delete the app, your family's data will be permanently lost. There is no way to recover it.

If you uninstall and reinstall the app, all data (missions, coins, journal entries, streaks, badges) will be gone.

Security

The App implements these security measures:

• Local storage only: No data sent to external servers
• Device encryption: Apple's iOS protects locally stored data
• Parent PIN: Protects reward approvals (4 digits, rate-limited to 3 attempts per 5 minutes)
• No accounts: No login, no email, no personal identifiers collected
• No authentication: No connection to external services

How We Use Your Data

The App uses the data only to:

• Display the child's missions and progress
• Calculate coins earned from completed missions
• Track streaks and achievement badges
• Store journal entries for the child's record
• Enable parents to approve/deny reward requests

We do not use your data for: Analytics, marketing, advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

What We Don't Do

• ❌ Collect age, birthdates, or personal identifiers
• ❌ Collect email addresses or phone numbers
• ❌ Collect location data or device identifiers
• ❌ Use analytics, tracking, or user profiling
• ❌ Display ads or promotional content
• ❌ Use social media integrations
• ❌ Share data with third parties
• ❌ Sell or rent personal information

Third-Party Services

Pocket Kindness does not use any third-party services. This means we don't use Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, AdMob, or any other external platform. Your data stays entirely within the app on your device.

Deleting Your Data

You have complete control over your data at any time:

1. Open the App → go to Settings tab
2. Scroll to the bottom
3. Tap "🗑️ Clear All Data"
4. Confirm the action

Warning: This permanently deletes all missions, coins, journal entries, streaks, and settings. This action cannot be undone.

You can also delete all data by uninstalling the app from your device.

Family Privacy

Pocket Kindness is designed to be used together with a parent or guardian. It's suitable for children and families of all ages.

Parents have full control over the app:

• Set and manage the approval PIN for reward requests
• View all missions and journal entries
• Delete the family's data at any time
• Decide whether their child uses the app

We collect minimal information (just a name entered by the parent), use no tracking or analytics, and maintain no accounts or profiles. Your family's privacy is our priority.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: All data is visible in the App (Journal, Progress, Settings)
• Delete your data: Use "Clear All Data" in Settings anytime
• Control the app: Parent can enable/disable features and manage the PIN
• Uninstall anytime: No account or login to manage

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App means you agree to the updated policy.
